The weather app on my phone says -34C, feels like -48C.
The Weather Network, on my desktop, says -28C, feels like -40C.
That’s a significant difference.
We’ve stayed home for the past two days, going out only to feed the critters. It’s supposed to warm up to -21C today, so the plan is to head into the city (after picking deer feed and bird seed locally) to do our monthly shop. I don’t want to put it off anymore, as we have a medical appointment for my husband tomorrow morning – he’s been on a liquid fast for days, now, to prepare – and other things that need to get done during the brief time we had warmer temperatures. Hopefully, it will all get done before the next cold wave we’re supposed to get in February.
The Re-Farmer
They would both feel the same to me, 72f, I’d be staying inside.

That’s what we’ll be doing! Just going out to make sure the cats have warm water and turn the heat pad back on, after it shuts itself off after 2 hours.

So me lady is back in 21810 caring for the 6 hens and two Roosters, water running in our house and daughters to prevent freezing. And where is the daughter someone might ask? They left Kew West yesterday and are in Belize through Tuesday. Did they select a good week or WHAT!

The variation has to do with where they place their weather monitoring stations. Things like shade, partial shelter from the wind and even if it’s placed on blacktop asphalt can make a large difference in readings.
As always, hang in there. 🙂

Thanks. I was used to minor variations between the two because of that. In this case, there seems to be a problem with my phone app, because when I later looked at the hourly forecast, the current time’s temperature was 7 degrees lower than the temperature that showed up on the primary display, which stayed the same for some 6 or so hours. Even right now, the main display on my phone app is still out of sync with its hourly temperature display by 5 degrees, and the wind chill is out of sync by 20!
