One nice thing about no leaves on the lilacs this time of year; we can see the birds in them, better. :-)
Things are quite a bit warmer, as I post this photo; the chickadees look so much smaller, now that they don’t have to puff themselves up like this! :-)
When the piebald deer we saw last year, visited us again this year, I mused if another notable deer would return.
Yesterday evening, we had 6 deer outside our window. With the light fading, I took some video, as my phone camera automatically compensates for low light better in video, and hoped for the best.
Lo and behold, on reviewing the video, there I saw a butt with no tail!
Detail had returned.
I am so happy to know we have repeat visitors from a year ago! :-)
The Re-Farmer
I was able to get some hilarious video of visiting deer yesterday evening.
What a hoot!! This little guy sure is happy spring is here!
There was a nice little surprise out our living room window this morning. We had a group of 5 deer out there – and one distinctive lady is a return visitor from last winter!
It’s entirely possible other deer that have been visiting us are returns from last winter, but few are distinctive enough to recognize, a year later. This one, with its piebald markings, is one of those few. She was part of a group of 3 deer. The other deer in the photo is part of a group of 2 that are regular visitors.
I hoped the piebald would come back! :-)
Still on the lookout for a deer missing its tail. :-D

I find it interesting, that one of them has fur that’s so much fluffier than the other.
The fluffy one looks like it’s starting to get antler nubbins.
I thought I was all caught up with the January photos, but when I uploaded the card from DSLR, I found more! So there will be a few more January Critter of the Days. :-)

I so love catching silly deer faces! :-D
The redpolls can really make a splash on an overcast day.
Just look at those little claws, grasping the lilac twigs.
They do seem to like those uppermost perches!
The redpolls really enjoy deer feed on the platform feeder.
Such pretty little birds.
Such enthusiastic little birds!
They flit in and out in waves, on the feeder, on the ground, into the trees, en masse.
