Critter of the Day: got ‘im

Taken in late April; the blue jays have been making it very difficult to get their pictures of late. I swear, they can tell when the camera starts to focus on them, and take off. But I got this one!

Critter of the Day: sweet stuff

April was when we finally started to see the squirrels again, on a regular basis. As things warm up, some of the trees began leaking fresh sap, and this squirrel is enjoying a sweet treat.

Upside down.

Critter of the Day: a shy blep

I have finally been able to go through photos from our living room camera, and process the last batch from April.

This was taken later in the month, and is among the last deer sightings we’ve had this season. Now that things are getting all green, the deer don’t need to come by here as often.

Critter of the Day: chowing down

Here is another photo from late April. Our summer birds were starting to come back in quite a rush by then.

We were still putting out the deer fix mix at this point. The deer were already coming by less frequently. Now that we’re in May, we hardly see them at all. There is still evidence that they are coming by – and sometimes I see them going through the driveway gate, on the trail cam. Right now, we are getting massive crowds of these fox sparrows.

Critter of the Day: windy!

We haven’t seen much of the squirrels for months, but they seem to be back now. This photo was taken and a particularly windy day in April.

The blowing wind reveals the different layers of colour in the squirrels fur. Hard to believe how dark it is under those red tips.
