Frozen Food

The smaller of the pair of deer that come by regularly now, trying to eat a frozen apple.

I’ve knocked down as many of the frozen apples as I can reach with the pole I found.  From the branches I’ve been finding on the ground, I think they’ve been trying to reach up to them, and pulling twigs down in the process.

Nicky the Nose

This guy is now quite the regular.

The way that patch of colour is on his nose, it sometimes looks like it’s injured and swollen.  Nope.  Just a splotch of colour.

It’s kind of funny to see this guy in the pile of kittens.  They’re pretty much adult size now, but not quite there, yet.  Then there’s Nicky. :-D  Interesting that they’ve accepted him like that.

Enjoying our visitors

I’ve just uploaded a new batch of photos from the camera in the living room, and have a few I’ll be sharing over the next few days.

Including these guys.

2018-11.1deer

Deer have started to show up every day, now, sometimes several times a day.  There’s just three of them that come regularly; a buck that always comes alone, and a pair that come together, if not always at the same time.  One looks like a buck that’s already lost his antlers for the winter.  He sometimes comes alone, or ahead of the other, larger, doe.

Their winter fur is coming in, and their colour is starting to get greyer.

From the tracks I’m able to see as I do my rounds, they are in and out quite a bit, throughout the day! :-)

The Re-Farmer

The Things we Find: an early version?

Since moving here, we haven’t really gone into the basements much.  In fact, it’s something I try to avoid.  I don’t even want to think about trying to clean things up there!  Especially the New Part basement.  You’d think it would be the other way around, since the stairs to the Old Part basement are so steep, with such narrow treads, it’s actually safer to go down them backwards, like onboard a ship, and the ceiling – the floors of the original log part of the house – is so much lower.  It is, however, much… emptier.  And cleaner.  We can actually get to where we need to – the well pump, the sump pump, the septic pump, the hot water tank, the furnaces.  These are all things we actually need to go down and check, too.

The New Part basement… not so much.
