So my claim to the movers has gone out, and I got a confirmation email, telling me it takes 2-4 weeks for claims to be resolved.
Today, I got this.
| Hi Mrs. Bxxxx,
I received your damaged items picturesand forwarded to our claim department. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to finalize claim.
When they finalize they wills end an e-mail to you.
Our driver said that: He broke the cable but never touch it the pole? It looks like that pole lose balance (it looks old pole)
Please let me know.
Please, feel free to call or e-mail me. I can provide more information about the company and our services. Best Regards, |
That’s a straight copy and paste, except for me redacting the name at the top.
Also, that’s not my surname. It is my husband’s surname. All of the paperwork and emails has been done with me and my surname, with his included in some others as an alternate contact person. In the claim email, both our names are on there, with mine first (because I’m the one who’s been doing all this directly with them).
Fun.
I am totally not getting the part about the driver saying he broke the cable, but never touched the pole. WTF? Thank God he didn’t break the cable, because if he had, someone probably would have died. There was power to the garage right up until the guy from Hydro came and shut it off, the removed the wire, which was hanging low off the tree branches.
And to suggest that the pole looked old?
Here’s the thing about those poles. It was acquired from the Hydro company. It’s the same as what they use all over the province. They are cedar and are used because they should last about 100 years.
Also, what difference does it make? The driver hit the wire and caused damage in the process. So what if he didn’t physically hit the pole? He still hit the wire and pulled it down, because they didn’t bother to look up. Then tried to blame me for it.
Until this email, things had seemed to be going smoothly. Now it looks like they are trying to avoid responsibility and, once again, find some way to blame us somehow.
This just pisses me off.
Looks like I will have to phone them on Monday.
