Could be. From what I learned from former friends back in Georgia that hunted, deer typically get one new point on an antler per year, so that would make that one barely 3. 🙂

Yup. Hunters like to go for the deer with the most points. Not only do they make good “trophies” (along with meat for the freezer), it means they are thinning down the older deer. That leaves the young, healthy and spry males available for breeding, and helps keep the genetic diversity and health of the population strong.
