I decided to try starting my desktop again, after wibbling the wires in back to make sure everything was all the way in. It’s been a while since the kittens have gone back there, but you never know what’s been knocked loose.
Much to my shock, I got this, right away.

Well, that’s something, at least!
My husband is the tech guy, so I went to get him before I tried anything. Unfortunately, it shut itself off, just as he walked into the room.
I restarted it, but it just went to the black screen with the HP logo, and started spinning.
When it became clear that was as far as it would get, I did a hard shut down. After waiting a few minutes, then wobbling the connections snug in the back again, I turned it on.
I got the blue screen message again.
This time, I hit enter.
It’s still spinning.
It’s been about 10-15 minutes, now. Time to shut it off and try again.
Next time, I’ll try the F1 key. If that doesn’t work, I’ll make my way down the list.
Who knows. We might just revive the old girl.

Looking up the code; it may be a cable’s issue. !!

while I hope you get it sorted, I am deeply suspicious of these error codes – e,g, working with wifi, in the hotel here it kept telling me a cable was disconnected when the connection was poor…

I was able to talk to someone about it today. I’m about to write a post that will include how that went, but long story short, I need to take it in. I don’t want to risk losing my data.

well, I hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised as I was once at what they can start a machine up from to avoid that (loss of data).

That’s a coma/death code. It’s not gonna repair itself. You should stop rebooting because if there’s a bug, it’s possible to launch add’l copies with each boot, increasing the damage.

If you used backup/restore options, try Solution #4… using a backup from before things went bad.

This page has some ideas. I suggest trying Solution #2 with the disc unavailable path
