Judgement decided to join me while I did my morning rounds today.

While I was penguin walking over the icy driveway, he kept running ahead, then flinging himself to the ground in front of my feet! Except sometimes, he would fail because the driveway is so slippery, he paws would start skittering, instead. So he’d just run ahead and try again! 😄 I finally got to a patch of exposed gravel, where I could stop and pet him for awhile. At which point, he started running around my feet, then rolling like crazy, making it hard to pet him – or get a decent picture!😄
I counted 24 yard cats this morning, then spotted a couple more in the outer yard as I went to the gate, so my headcount was 26 today.
I contacted the Cat Lady this morning, but she has heard nothing back from the woman who was a potential adopter for Ginger. She did adopt out a cat to someone else today, and another 3 legged cat is coming in. She was talking about having them together in the separate cat room they have (along with the cat with no eyes, I believe), but they are going to the US for a while soon. I told her, no worries. The less disruption for him, the better, so it can wait. He’s stressed out enough as it is.
Plus, I don’t mind his sweet company for a bit longer. I know it’ll be better for him, but gosh, we’re going to miss him!

Hmmm, I dunno. I have to wonder if the stress of relocating would be worse than the constant bullying for Ginger.

Believe me; it’s something we’ve considered! He’s gotten to the point that he’s isolated himself to the dining room. We had to add litter boxes for him to use, but of course the other cats use them and sometimes keep him from being able to, so we also have to have pee pads in various spots that he’s been going, instead. This morning, I saw him drop into a submissive position just from seeing one of the cats that bullies him. She wasn’t even after him that time (they seem to know to wait until we’re not around to go after him), but just walking by. 😢 He deserves better than this! And it’ll be easier to adopt him out, than to adopt out any of the others. Especially with adoptions in general being so hard to accomplish.

He definitely needs out of there. :( I wish we could take him, but the tortie is a hellspawn. She goes nuts just seeing neighborhood cats walk through our yard.

With him being so easily bullied, what other critters are in the household is going to be really important. So different from when Toni came in. Several cats tried to intimidate her, and she gave no Fs at all.
The bullying of Ginger is also pretty recent. They weren’t doing it before. Ultimately, we just have too many cats in the house. 😥

I feel that. Leeloo now resists coming indoors because 1 or more of the KitKats is terrorizing her (thru think it’s play). And getting Toonces back home is a complete lost cause for me.

I get sad every time Toonces runs away when I’m still 10′ away from him. It’s like he doesn’t know me anymore.

Trust me, we’re not blaming you at all there. Cats are very weird in their social structures and it morphs based on a wide array of factors. You’ve been doing as good as possible for him over the years. If it’s gotten that toxic though, a change of scenery might be better for him.

Oh, I understood you weren’t doing that.
We do the best we can. Sometimes, that means understanding when our situation just isn’t the best, and we have to let go. It’s easier with some cats, but we expected Ginger to stay permanently. In the end, it’s what’s best for him, not what we want, that matters.

Figured. You’ve always been the more level headed of us. Still, there seems to be insanity running through WP lately, with people at every turn blowing up on somebody
