The cold snap finally broke today!
Though we woke to temperatures of -31C and wind chills reaching beyond -40C, by the time I got outside to do my rounds, it was a balmy -26C, with no wind chill.
We are supposed to continue to warm up over the next couple of days, with more snow on Monday and Tuesday. Since I have to go into town on Monday, then pick up the snow blower on Tuesday, today was the day to clear enough of the driveway that I could get out of the garage without getting stuck.
Rather than have all of us out shoveling, I broke out the electric shovel and used that, while the girls took care of inside chores. I just did the essentials: widening the path from the house to the garage so that my husband can get through with his walker, then enough of the space in front of the garage to back the van out and turn. Using the electric snow shovel meant it only took me about an hour, and I wasn’t rushing, by any means.
By the time I was done, it was a balmy -20C, and I was starting to overheat! Looking at the 14 day forecast, the coldest we’re supposed to get is about a week from now, with a high of -21C. We might even get warmer than -10C on Tuesday (three different weather apps, three different forecasts! :-D).
After the cold we’ve been having lately, that’s going to feel almost tropical!
