Painting Started!

The girls have been working hard to get the upstairs ready.  Tonight, they decided to start painting!

The East and West walls, plus the ceilings, will be this grey green. The North and South walls will be in a red.

Hard to believe these walls were washed with TSP.

Things We Find – part 4. Hidden Treasures

Today, I started on the master bedroom.

Wow.

I focused first on the “linen” closet.  There was also a row of shelves with cloths I wanted to empty.

Part way through, as I pulled items down from higher in the closet, I was perplexed by the sound if things hitting the carpet, like rain. I eventually clued in that it was mouse shit.

Care Package

I remembered to get the mail before the post office closed at noon (but only on Wednesdays). A dear friend sent me a package that arrived today.

Mama loves her honeysuckle wood! Lol Continue reading

Looks almost like new…

Today’s big job; we were able to clear half the living room and start shampooing the green shag carpet.

When I was a teen, after several hot hours throwing bales, I would come into the cool of the house and lie on the rug. It was like lying on grass.  Except not in the sun and no bugs.

Only the sun part applies now.

While taking down the mirrors, we had to vacuum the back of one to remove a spider and years of webs. Then we had to vacuum the webs and dust off the walls.

Then most of the nails were removed.

The new tool kit is already much appreciated.

Once things are dry, we will move most of the furniture and tv to the other half and finish shampooing the carpet tomorrow.

Which is when the company is coming in to set up our internet. Let’s see if our second attempt at getting internet will work.

Then we won’t have to worry about finding that sweet spot with enough cell phone signal to post things.

On the window sill.

With the phone upright.

Not being touched by human hands.

Happy St. Catherine’s Day

Traditionally, today is our first day of the Christmas season.  We would start decorating the house and put up the tree.

All of which are in storage right now.

Theoretically, we could harvest a live tree from around the property, but there are enough fire hazards here, already. Continue reading
