I spotted a mystery while checking the trail cams today!
Watch closely, behind the deer.
We have a mystery critter!
It’s too big to be a squirrel, and squirrels are not out at night, anyhow. It seems too small to be a raccoon or a skunk. Those are large enough that they would be identifiable, even with the infrared flash.
About the only thing we are pretty sure of is, it’s likely a rodent of some kind. :-D
Any guesses?

What a constant stream of deer caught on the trail cam last night! Especially between 4 and 5 in the morning.
Nothing compared to this one clip, however.
A full dozen are seen here, but there may well have been more after the camera stopped recording.
There were about 35 clips of deer recorded by this camera last night, and there are other locations the deer use to cross into the property. Most were in groups of 2 or 3, with a few lone deer. The family of 4 that like to use the road came by again. At one point, there was even 2 way traffic of deer, coming and going!
Wow!

She found a patch of ground some critter had been digging in, against a tree root, leaving a softer pile of dirt. She hunkered down on the warmer patch it created and wouldn’t move! :-D

Part of my daily routine is to switch out the memory cards on the trail cams, then see what’s on them.
I was quite surprised to see a large number of files on the new camera, a couple of nights ago.
It turned out we had a lot of traffic going past it that night!
Continue readingFirst things first, I got fantastic news this morning!
I came in from doing my morning rounds to find my husband on the phone; the garage had called about my mom’s car.
There is no damage.
None.
Not even the flat tire!
They pumped it up and checked it, and there’s not even a leak. It looks like the seal got broken at the rim and the air just leaked out. The tire and rim are just fine.
He did suggest an alignment, considering what happened, which I was planning to ask for already. They were already putting the tire back while he was talking to me, so the alignment is all that will need to get done.
Now I have to figure out when I can come pick it up with a second driver. :-/ He said there was no hurry on that. They’ll have it ready and waiting for me whenever I can.
So that is a HUGE relief!
