What a constant stream of deer caught on the trail cam last night! Especially between 4 and 5 in the morning.

Nothing compared to this one clip, however.

A full dozen are seen here, but there may well have been more after the camera stopped recording.

There were about 35 clips of deer recorded by this camera last night, and there are other locations the deer use to cross into the property. Most were in groups of 2 or 3, with a few lone deer. The family of 4 that like to use the road came by again. At one point, there was even 2 way traffic of deer, coming and going!

      • Especially this late in the winter. Natural sources would be pretty picked over by now.

Quite a lot of people put out feed these days. When I was a kid growing up here, no one was selling bags of deer feed, anywhere. Now our little general store keep a stock, right next to the salt licks. Even in town, both hardware stores now carry deer feed with their bird seed. All different mixes, too!

      • This time of year, only poachers are doing that. First Nations, of course, can hunt all year on Crown land, but they don’t bait. Baiting is illegal here for, I believe, all hunting. There might be exceptions made for niusance or dangerous animals. Some, like boar, can be hunted all year, but thankfully, we don’t have those in our area.
