A bit off…

The low for last night was forecast to be -25C, before starting to warm up.

We are supposed to be well into the “starting to warm up” part by now.

Almost 8am, and we are at -30C?? We are supposed to be closer to -23C by now.

That’s off by quite a bit!

I just checked the critter cam. There are surprisingly few cats in the sun room. I’m glad that heat lamp came in yesterday, though!

Hopefully, things will warm up a fair bit over the next few hours, since plugging the truck in, is not an option. At least it’s closed up in the garage!

I do wish we didn’t have to go out in this, for my husband’s eye appointment, but it wasn’t supposed to get this cold.

Well, time to bundle up and feed the outside cats!

      • Having grown up in the prairies, it’s always a culture shock to me when I see housing construction in warmer climates. Lack of insulation (which helps keep things cool, as well as warm, so that confuses me!), single pane windows (people still make those???), no weather stripping… My brain has trouble grasping that, when I see it!

The wall heater being broken, though… that sucks.

      • Well, my house is 95 yrs old so it gets a pass. I looked into getting insulation but some of the wiring is also 95 yrs old and would have to be replaced first, which opens up even more issues.

The wall heater is in a stupidly inefficient place and low priority for repair. I couldn’t get it to light last year and pretty much forgot about it. Now it’s blocked by bags of cat food & litter that I’m too lazy to move, plus there’s all the other house junk and distinct odor of a crazy cat house!

With the kittens gone for a,few more hours, I’m hoping to get the heated mattress pad set up. Then life will be grand!

  1. Currently it is 56 F here. But, we are dealing with heavy rains and wind gusts. Supposedly there is a risk of tornadoes and power outages with the approaching thunderstorms. High winds and ice storms (which are rare) are the only things that cause me concern over all these trees surrounding the house.
