I was finally able to get back to working on taking out the broken tire planter today, and was able to get it finished!
I am so happy to get that done!
This is where I left off, last time.

Continue readingWith the recent rains and the cooler temperatures, I decided it was time to figure out how to burn the rotten wood I had cleared out of the old wood pile.
I had a bit of a conundrum.
The burn barrel was full, along with a bin beside it, but I didn’t want to use it, because it’s so close to the big pile of branches we’ve been clearing out.
The best place do a burn is in the outer yard. After walking around and deciding on the best spot, I hooked up the remaining usable hoses to the one new hose I got. It gave me a total of 150 feet, but it wasn’t enough to reach where I had wanted to set up. I had to set up closer. At least this put me on a gravel base.
I dug out a large metal ring that has been sitting in the spruce grove for who knows how long, and rolled it over to use as a fire pit. Bits and pieces of rusted out metal broke off the inside as I rolled it over that I had to go back and pick up. The last thing I need is to have one of those slicing open a tire. I also found a sheet of metal near the barn to use as a base.
Continue readingToday, I decided to tackle the bent up old tire planter.
Here is how it looked before I started.
Continue readingBrrr, today has turned out to be chilly!
With some help from my daughter, though, I was able to get a lot more done outside than I expected.
First on the list was to move the old dog houses to what I hope will be a permanent – or at least long term – location.
Unfortunately, things are really level in the area I wanted to put them. After discussing it a bit, we decided which space was the most level, then hoisted the dog houses over.
Continue readingDelay after delay after delay (and a bit of “I don’t have the energy for this”), this evening, I finally got back to the old wood pile area.
It’s finished.
Continue readingIt’s been a while, but I managed to get a bit of progress on cleaning up the old wood pile.
This is almost how it looked when I left off last time.

I didn’t realize I’d neglected taking a picture after we shifted the doghouse aside and I took away the pallet it was on.
Today, I started digging and pulling up what I could of the rotted out pallets.
Continue readingAfter dropping one daughter off at work, my other daughter and I did a whole bunch of manual labour around the yard.
The first thing we did was haul away the stuff I’d clean up in the old wood pile area, including moving the pile of debris to the back of the outhouse, and sorting through the pile of found objects and garbage.
Continue readingI was able to get about an hour of clean up in the old wood pile area. I made sure to check the temperature before I headed out, and it was only 22C. Thank God it wasn’t any hotter, because even that felt way too hot.
Y’know, I’ve always wanted to travel, and go vacation on some tropical island. I still want to do that, but I am realizing that I’d just die in the heat! :-D
So this is where I left off, yesterday.
Continue readingToday has been a very unproductive day. I felt exhausted all day, to the point of falling asleep at the computer. I even tried to nap, but that was a failure. Mostly because I’m a suck, and I didn’t have the heart to move the sleeping pile of cats on my bed. :-D
It was my turn to do the cat litter tonight, and I headed out a bit early to do the sun room litter pans. It seemed cooler, so I stayed out and worked on the old wood pile area. I didn’t get very far. Again, I was feeling exhausted, and was dripping with sweat. This is not usual for me.
Then, just before starting this post, I checked the temperature.
27C – feels like 30C.
Which means it was even hotter while I was out there, even though it was about 7pm at the time.
That might have something to do with how I was feeling!
This is what I managed to do, in the short time I was out.
Continue readingAh, what a perfect day to work outside! This morning, it was cool enough that I actually wore…
*gasp*
…long sleeves!
:-D
The goal was to move the debris pile from where I’m clearing in the old wood pile to the area behind the outhouse. Which meant I first had to clear around the outhouse.
Here is how it looked before I started.
