Spot the Bald Patch, and Creeper is creeping

As usual, I had furry company while I did my rounds this morning. Including Two-Face.

She found a patch of ground some critter had been digging in, against a tree root, leaving a softer pile of dirt. She hunkered down on the warmer patch it created and wouldn’t move! :-D

Topped Up

We did things a bit differently this month, with our bulk shopping.

A picture of Keith for you to enjoy. His recovery from a certain procedure at the vet has him luxuriating in softness! Such a spoiled kitty!

Usually, we do one big trip at the end of the month, with the bulk of the shopping done at Costco. As we’ve gotten to know different stores that we now go to regularly, that monthly shopping day has expanded to include going to at least 3 different major stores to stock up. Sometimes more.

The van gets very full and heavy. Especially with the weight of cat litter and giant bags of kibble that we have to pack everything else around.

So at the end of February, we decided to split the trip into two. The first trip focused more on stocking up for us humans, and a second trip would be to top up anything we needed, but mostly pick up the bulky bags of kibble and boxes of litter.

Today was our top up day.

Our timing to try this could have been better…

Another day

I had some company while I was doing my rounds this morning.

I thought it was just adorable, how they loafed themselves against the wind, while keeping their toes out of the snow. :-D

I would love to have been able to do that same, this morning!

Yes, we’re still unpacking

Over the last few days, I haven’t been posting much. I’ve really been appreciating having very quiet, boring days! :-D It’s great for rejuvenation. Not great for interesting things to post about! ;-)

I took advantage of the quiet time to do some more unpacking.

Yes, I know it’s been 2 years since we’ve moved.

Okay, so technically, we finished unpacking long ago. It’s more that some things just haven’t found homes, yet, and are just sort of scattered about or stored in bins.

The area I’ve been working on the most has been shifted about a few times, since we moved.

The “master bedroom”.

It’s warmed up a bit…

Of course, that’s a relative statement.

When I got up this morning, it was -33C/-27F with a “feels like” of -42C/-44F.

I’m happy to say that the van handled the temperatures quite well. Yes, we’ve been diligent in maintenance and improvements as much as we can, but it’s still a 15 yr old vehicle with almost 430,000 km on it, so I’m always going to be paranoid about that thing. :-/

Motivated by the temperatures, I stayed up last night to finish a shrug I was crocheting for myself. When my upper back gets cold, it triggers my chronic cough, so I just wanted a little something to throw on while around the house. I am wearing it right now, and feeling nice and toasty!

I think this is the first time I’ve deliberately made something, just for myself. :-D

The Re-Farmer

Life goes on

I want to thank those who reached out to me after my post about the various situations we’re having to deal with on the property. Your kind words and encouragement are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The night I wrote about all that, one more thing got added to the list.

My husband broke a tooth!

Assessing things

Yesterday’s plans to take my mother to visit her sister at the nursing home changed. I got a call in the morning, because she was worried about the weather. It was blowing pretty hard, and she was concerned. We ended up postponing for now.

When doing my rounds this morning, I found some minor tree damage from the winds.

Finding this branch was rather funny.
