Our Cat is Broken Again

We have had many cats over the years. At one point, we were an impromptu cat shelter and had a dozen of them at once, but only a couple were ours.

We have never had a cat that liked to do this at all, never mind so frequently. It seems he’s more comfortable upside down than right side up!

    • I had always been a dog person. Growing up, we always had working dogs. Cats were the feral things in the barn that would prefer to tear my face off than let me come near them. Until it was milking time, then they’d come over and wait for me to squirt milk at them.

Then we started getting cats, and now I am also a cat person as much as I ever was a dog person. We have had cats adopt us, too. Which just amazes me. Our mama cat showed up as a stray on our deck, starving and pregnant. She then brought her baby to us. Long story, but we couldn’t keep both and ended up keeping her boy and adopting her out. (One of our two cats died suddenly, and it was really, really hard to be in a position to have to choose only one!)

Two years later, she was back, hungry and pregnant again. We couldn’t keep her (pet limits at the co-op we lived in), but cared for her until we found someone willing to take her in and adopt her and her kittens out. She had her kittens, but wasn’t the good mother she was before. She attacked the other cats in the household, and didn’t even want to care for her own kittens. They finally asked us to take her back.

As soon as she was back with us, her sweet temperament returned. There was no doubt that she wanted to be with us and no where else!

Sadly, our 15 yr old cat died. Which meant we didn’t have to try and adopt her out again. So now mama and son have been with us ever since.

They have us in their thrall, completely. LOL
